twas an evening of contrasts. That sounds great! I hope everything went well for all the artists. Judging by the (older) music I heard of the artists, it should be a very mixed bag of styles, sounds and emotions, so I am looking forward to hearing the VT.

I really enjoyed playing my set and got some interesting feedback afterwards, mostly good, but I don't think it was for everyone. Luckily the following acts restored some sanity after my crazy set

Coming down to earth after last night... Probably our most relaxed gig in years. The new car meant that we could travel in comfort and without fretting over breakdowns. The new Mac Book meant that we didn't have to worry about the Akai DR8 dying on us. There was some small concern that the Mac Book's power meter said we only had enough juice for 13 minutes but those clever Cupertino people show the amount of time before the battery is fully charged, not how much time is available. RTFM next time. Some opinions on the music: Modulator ESP - not my cup of tea at all. It's about as far away from my idea of 'music' as you can get. Jez and I had quite a lengthy discussion about this at the time, and I hope we're still friends. Ion - mistakes in timing due to the monitoring - I kept missing beats due to the reverb in the hall and just sloppy playing. Next time, we'll try a different monitoring solution. Probably down to rehearsing with studio grade monitors instead of real world kit. The set was okay. Obvious issues when the mouse pointer locked up and wouldn't move. Reaper doesn't handle Apple Track Pad events properly. Other than that, a more successful set than last year. We felt more together as an act too, which people commented upon. The artwork went down well too. The images were by German photographer/CGI specialise Tim Borgmann (http://www.bt-3d.de/) Altres - a very enjoyable set, if a little too long. Lots of nice synthy bits though the guitar was too low in the mix. A couple of people in the hall grumbled at the length of their set because they had buses to catch. Others just grumbled. I did like the light show and, in particular, the slide which read 'Electronic music is sh.ite'.

I'd say in public is the best place for it. Nowt wrong with challenging your audience.
