Suddenly got the urge to do another ambient drone project on Friday night. Did all the basic recording mixing and processing in about 3 hours. It's another 74 minute epic drone in the vein of Zeta Reticuli. It still needs some re-mixing and the odd tweak then it should be ready for release. Here's a preliminary cover design Gear used: Nord Modular G2, Korg Mono/Poly, Sequential Circuits Prophet 600

Did a re-mix the night before last and have been listening to that and it's sounding good to me. Might add one or two more overdubs then it should be ready

after listening some more I decided the original version was too similar in places to zeta reticuli so did a radical remix today, dropped a couple of layers of analogue and added some new layers of digital to try and get something a bit different to zeta reticuli/heliosphere

Well, I've lived with the latest version of this for quite some time now and have decided I'm as happy with it as I'm ever likely to be. If the title hadn't already been used I would have liked to have called it Startide as that is the sort of feeling it evokes for me, but it was taken, so I chose Demon Star instead, which is a reference to Algol, an ecliptic binary star that regularly varies in brightness as one star moves in front of the other. I spent a fair amount of time pondering how I would release it if at all and it got stuck in limbo as other projects have taken my time. Then all of a sudden I decided on the spur of the moment to burn some CDRs to sell at the last Awakenings gig, so it has now been 'released' and is available to buy. I'll be adding some samples to my Virb site in due course and some Paypal links to the merch page on my site should anyone actually want a copy If you can't wait just send me an email and I'll sort something out sooner.
