I really enjoyed the day as much as for the social aspect as the music. Have to agree with Brendan that Phobos was the best act of the day by a long way.

Had a really good evening yesterday, as Neil says above, the social aspect was much enjoyed. Had a couple of good chats with Neil, also great to see Jez and Brendan after a couple of years, and of course, Phil, Xan and MC Dave Buxton. Musically, I think Dave Phobos just about pipped it from Ideation, who were very good, though rather TD. Excellent mixing of different sequences - not just taking one and running with it for hours. Vietgrove were good to begin with, but it descended a little into chaos I'm afraid.
Anyway, all in all, I had a good time!
PS. - I don't think I saw Yolande? At least, I didn't recognise her. Looking forward to the VT to see what John Christian did.

Well, I had a fun day, it was nice to meet up with folks and actually have a bit of time to chat I have to be honest and say the afternoon session didn't do much for me. John's set showed potential, but he had a few technical difficulties that spoiled it for me. Auto-Pilot were more interesting than expected, but not my idea of electronic music and Stefan Erbe's set really wasn't my cup of tea, although it seemes other people enjoyed it. I enjoyed Dave's set, especially the last half. I really enjoyed playing with Vietgrove and Ideation, it will be interesting to hear the sets I played in on the VT as they both went by in a bit of a blur

Just a few words before I go to the airport. I had a very nice time. I liked the fun with Martyn and Brendan and Jez.. He is great for getting through with me all these days. He may need counseling though... I loved meeting Xan, David and Ross. Best act to me was Phobos tbh.
More when I get back home.

Glad to of made the effort even if I was running on empty after being up since 3am. Only saw the afternoon sets. John Christian probably a set he will want to forget. Nice idea playing a real flute but for whatever reason the audience couldn't hear it. Quite a few fluffed notes on the last track with lots of head shaking.
Auto Pilot - pretty good and different. I thought it was Dave Law on synths!
Stefan Erbe - never heard him before and although lots of the music was coming from either a laptop or cd I enjoyed the music and visuals.
Had a quick natter with a few people and then drove home in the pouring rain. Dead on my feet when I got home and was I bed for 7.30pm
Have to wait for the VT to hear the evening sets.

Firstly I would like to thank everyone for their wonderful comments they made to me after my set, and also on here. They mean a great deal to me, so thank you all very much. It was great to see everyone again. Met some new faces as well. Yolande, it was great to meet you in person, sorry we didn't get much time to chat. I didn't get to see John Christian as we arrived just after he had finished. Auto Pilot were interesting and certainly different, but thats what Awakenings is about, I liked the instrumental tracks, but I wasn't terribly keen on the vocal tracks. I had not heard of Stefan Erbe before either, what he does he does very well, but not really my cup of tea, but again this is only my personal feeling. I do like guitar in EM and not just EM, but metal as well, and I like to actually "hear" the guitar, and thats what I got with Vietgrove, Thank you guys! I enjoyed the set very much, and I am in awe of anyone who uses modular synths, all them cables would be the death of me, amazing skill, Norman, and that film of synchronised swimming on the backdrop was amazing. I enjoyed Ideation very much, nice melodies, sequencing and moods. Nice use of Theremin, and interesting visuals. I think Jez fitted in really well with both Vietgrove and Ideation, you can just tell this guy just love to play live, and it shows. I had a great day, and I really enjoyed playing live again, I think more this time, than in 2011, remember I usually only play live once every 19 years , so this was quite a quick return for me! I am glad that Awakenings will continue again next year, and I look forward to supporting next years events when announced. Finally thank you to Phil and Dave B for letting me play again.

Well, I enjoyed it. Knackered now though. Probably not the best idea to stay in the bar til silly o'clock last night. Currently uploading various bits of media, and then tomorrow I'll make a start on the VTs. Another vote for Phobos here too.

Naughty boy Phil ;-) Me and my Dad were knackered too, went to bed soon as we got in the room. We were at Breakfast and 8 and off home at 9.
