After a bit of a slow start we've ended up selling just 1 less ticket than the last one. If we get as many turning up on the day I'll be happy. :-)

Well it looks like its left to me to start the process of offering thoughts on last nights events Another very pleasant night chatting to everyone and browsing the big amount of gear that had been set up, the nights entertainment started bang on time at 7PM and was very ably controlled by Spyraleye. A new format from Pete and Neale, non structured live improv no less, and it worked wonderfully for them, just my cup of tea, no laptop, and just hardware to keep the music going. In my opinion this was the best set of the night. Next up was Volt+ with some very nice music coming out of the speakers, starting with Lamp, then volt, and then all 5 musos on stage to finish off, at times it was a little TOO NICE for me to be honest, but there was some cracking parts over the course of the set so enjoyable all the same. Next up and to finish the night was David Wright, I haven't heard any of his music before so didn't know what to expect, looking at his gear of mainly rompler synths, I was expecting a very musical set and much live playing as such. Unfortunately for me, it was just too safe, great compositions but mainly sent out to the PA via his laptop. He had 4 synths and a rack set up and he could have probably done what he did with just the one synth, seeing that there were only a few occasions where he played two live sounds at the same time. So to sum up nice but safe. I might add, this is only my opinion and in no way should be taken as anything other than that, just in case I upset anyone who may be a big fan of David, I know his pedigree in this music scene stands tall and is well respected. All in all a great night and very much looking forward to next months extravaganza :-)

I find myself in general agreement with you Martyn I thought it was great that Pete and Neale had escaped from the laptop I missed Mike Shipway's live sequencing, the VoLt+ set was more like electronic prog David's set had some interesting moments, and nice music, but needed more weird

I thought it was a great night & thoroughly enjoyed it.
SpiralEye did a great set of more improvised music this time with some nice textures created. Very enjoyable.
Volt+ were great and played a very professional set with seamless changes as they changed lineup several times throughout their set. There were some nice sequences, well played flowing synth leadlines and precise guitar work. I also thought their visuals were very high quality and looked great on the big screen. Thoroughly enjoyable.
I also enjoyed David Wright's set, especially the last track before the encore. It was an accomplished performance.
All in all a superb night for me, even though it was very late it finished. It was also a decent turnout on the night and good to see some new people in the audience too :-)
Well, now its only 4 weeks to the Alldayer and looking forward to another great day at Burton :-)

Spiral Eye was easily the best act of the evening I though. Generally in agreement w/Martyn.

A great evenings entertainment, and a good crowd with some new faces amongst the regulars. I also heard that it was supported quite healthily by the virtual listeners so good news there as well. Spiraleye played a nice set, and have to be applauded in getting away from the laptop, especially in this day and age. Well done guys. Volt et al were also very good, seemless interchanges between the musicians, nice interaction, and a very clever visual display. I've seen David Wright once before, a long time ago, when I had hair and it was black! He has always seemed to play music that is quite melodic, which is what he played here. Of the pieces he played I liked the encore the most, David has been around for years and is very accomplished in what he does, as I much prefer the dark side of em nowadays, then it wasn't really my cup of tea so to speak, but that is just my personal view. To sum up, an enjoyable evening of music, and great meeting up again with the usual suspects! Looking forward to the all dayer
