Yes, I think; what with the promotion by you Yolande, and Phil, Dave and Neil it seems to have worked this time.
Sometimes people get fed up of seeing endless ad's about certain things, but in this case that tireless promotion did pay off :-) Or it may just be the fear of loosing our only regular EM music night that's got people interested, whatever it was there was quite a few new faces in there:-)

I think the last post, about next year, that it will be hard with the costs etc, made also a big difference. Let's hope it keeps going up from now. I will keep "promoting" the awakenings, it is nice to see that people had never heard of it before and now buy a VT every time.

Indeed it was great to see a bit of a, dare I say, crowd (over 40 paying punters in the room). Perhaps also to do with the fact it was Air Sculpture playing. And it was a very entertaining evening. Nick was using a new rig for the first time and had a feww teething problems, but still delivered a good set. I thought Neil's set was excellent, for me one of the best in terms of complete mix of styles and delivery that we've had, and a great video (which very nearly didn't happen). And Air Sculpture were on form, particularly the second half of the set, and a great little encore.

Yes deffo a bit of a crowd here are my thoughts on the night.
Another fantastic evening of music and pleasant social fun was had last night. 3 great acts once again and I enjoyed every minute of it. Nick Robinson started the night off with some very melodic live looping and now using laptop software instead of his echoplex, it worked very well I thought, I didn't hear any problems to be honest. Next up was Neil Fellowes and his son Callum, during their hour they put a lot of variation into what they did, some great playing by both with some very strange bits of gear? i'm sure Neil will elaborate LOL ;-). The final act never fail to hit the right spot AirSculture John Christian and the chaps played for over and hour + an encore of firey uptempo sequence driven music, with a great Piano section in the middle superbly played by Adrian. Brilliant stuff and cant wait til the next one in September with David Wright, Volt and Sprial eye Peter Challoner. Long live Awakenings in Burton upon Trent:-)

We deliberately wanted to mention the amount of promotion done by Neil (thanks again), because he defintely made a difference and got a good amount of interest in the event. And I can demonstrate that with some stats. During the evening i uploaded 1 photo of each act onto fb, and here are the views(likes) to date.... Nick - 7 AS - 15 Neil - 29 Spam works, it seems

It was a good night, some proper live music, with all its inherent risks of total failure, but everyone coped with their little problems and rose above them and I quite enjoyed being mostly in the audience

One of the key things I learnt was that it seems to be that the modern business model regarding social media is to sell yourself THEN sell your product. As soon as I was confirmed for the event, all I did was to use continual updates with all the silly bits of equipment that came into my possession and daft comments as well as bits of video of Callum with the Zimmer Drums or noises made with the Monotrons. The aim was to build a kind of expectation without actually giving away what we would be doing. It would appear that, this time, we got away with it :-D
