A very good evenings entertainment, shame it was a poor turnout but nice to see everyone again.

You have an excuse not to be there Yolande, with the distance and cost involved, but there are lots of people from over here that haven't, the audience numbers are dwindling, I counted about 20 last night, talking to DB before the concert he told me that costs for the school were rising and this may well be the last year that it can be used, which is very sad news.
So there are 3 dates left on this years calendar and if people want it to continue for the sake of the UK's EM music, a place for the likes of everyone from me upto the bigger names can play, people who like to watch live EM, people who would like to play there that haven't, and the devoted few that always attend should realy make a big effort to get there on those dates. My hat is off to all those that made the effort last night and all those that continue to travel long distances to attend.

I really wanted to be there but when you've been up early looking after a 3 year old all day and then the same again today I really didn't fancy the drive plus a late night. Bought the VT though so look forward to hearing that!

Martyn, Indeed it would be very sad news if Awakenings did not continue and hopefully there is support here and elsewhere financially and in person for it to continue. Lots of people make significant efforts in organisation and participation and that is celebrated here and rightly so. Even so, I'm not convinced that it is helpful or productive to pass judgement about the decisions others make and the validity or otherwise of their 'excuses' for not being there.

I do promise to be at the alldayer. Booked a flight yesterday to Birmingham. It could be that I take a few people from Holland with me, but I can not decide for them. Got them interested anyway ;-)
Please do not give up on this, even if it are "just" 20 people. There isn't much left anymore.

Regarding attendance - only 1/3 of people 'attending' were actually present, so it was still a pretty good turnout, just now the audience seems to be mostly virtual, maybe because of travel costs, or distance.
So attendance would not be a reason to stop, the real problem is that the school has to pay the caretaker at time and half for the day, which amounts to around £200, which wasn't so bad when there was other stuff happening on a Saturday, but now there is only us, and money is very tight, thanks to our current government.
So, unless there is a miracle it's very unlikely we'll be able to hold concerts at the school after this year, so unless anyone else knows of a suitable venue it might just be the end...
