Just got an email from my friend Dave inviting me to do a gig with him on the 25th July. Being unable to refuse an offer of a chance to play live I've said I'll do it, even though i know it will be a lot of effort for very little return. But it's all practice isn't it It's at The Rose of England (what used to be the Yorker), home of the infamous drum incident, as it's upstairs I'm going to try to take less gear and do something more ambient, though I doubt I'll be able to get through a whole gig without any sequencing. I think it's probably free admission, but it's on a Tuesday so I'm not expecting anyone to turn up.

Drum Incident: One of Nottingham's more colourful characters, a chap called something like "Smackwater Jack" or similar, turned up with a snare drum on a stand. he proceeded to play, amongst onther things, the National Anthem, and some Beatles stuff, etc. All solo on a snare drum. 'Different' doesn't begin to describe it. He also borrowed the other Dave's nice guitar and played some "african jazz". You had to be there ...

Play live in your studio and just pop in a few cardboard cutouts of people and there you have a ready made audience without having to move any gear! ;D
