Well that was an interesting night. Started off dead chaotic, with no sign of the headliners and an extra band on the bill, but eventually it all went well Running order: Intermission to Saturn - did a short set to open up, guitar, sitar, harmonium, stylophone and microkorg through moog ring mod. Trippy Old School Tie - 4 piece instrumental modern prog band, very dynamic, good stuff Modulator ESP - Circulus arrived as I went on and set-up, as I'd set-up on the floor on the left of the stage, whilst I did a 40 min set, with some bits I really enjoyed. Got a good reaction, then as soon as I was finished the main band went on Ciculus - were a 3 piece vocals/guitar, percussion/harmonium and assorted wind instruments. They went down a storm and loads of people had come to see them. Finished just before 12, then packed up and home by 1:45

If you know in advance when a gig is, what's to stop you from looking on the internet, finding a suitable hotel near to the venue and writing/phoning them to reserve a room and then send off a cheque as a deposit? That's how I booked my B&B for Hampshire Jam. In fact, my HJ ticket I paid for by cheque as well. Regarding trains - check on the internet. So far, virtually all of the UK gigs are held somewhere that is served by a train station. I'm not having a pop at you here Ben, I'm just concerned that you are allowing yourself to be stopped by non existent barriers and preventing yourself from doing the things that you really want to do.

I thought you were having a pop at me I understand that I shouldn't let things get as a barrier but people must realise that apathy is Not the reason I don't go to many gigs, it's just how to get places, stay there, etc (and I havent stayed yet at a hotel, etc by myself, so thats another challenge)

In fairness to Ben, Leicester / Nottingham is not best served with trains after 10pm.

although there is truth I really shouldn't limit myself due to some boundaries, as otherwise I'd miss many gigs, etc
I think it would be best for me to stay the night at a hotel, etc in the area
I just think it's a bit intimidating as I've never done that before by myself.

If it's something that you want to go to & me & Xan are stopping over as well, you could always share with us. We usually book a family room which you can easily sleep 3 people as well as saving you money because the cost is split 3 ways. At Guildford (where we stayed for HJ5) for 2 of us sharing it cost us £40 each for 3 nights.
