Yes, some great pics there, and one advantage of going on first is the fact that you have all the gear on stage behind you and Jez looks a lot healthier than he did before he lost his weight and can move around a lot faster On to my take on the night, a great opening by Phil and Xan although I couldnt relax and hear the music well enough as I was doing my lord lichfield bit ;D will look forward to the VT, what I did catch was quite original if I could be so bold in saying. Jez and Norman's set was mind blowing in parts and i'm affraid to say the VT just wont do it justice the same as seeing it done there on the night. Modular sequencing aside, the parts that they were playing to jez's arps with Normans bell like abstract arp going in the background was suberb, just awesome live work, well done to both. I could probably fill the rest of the post with my thoughts on the Air Sculpture set, all negative though. So i'll just say great for listening to whilst bolloking down the motorway at 80 MPH but thats about it, no other interest there for me in what they did last night. I'm sure a lot of the audience enjoyed what they did and each to their own, if we all liked the same things the world would be boring. So sorry to hear all the problems with the roads that you guys had, to be honest with you Brendan I was a little bit puzzled as to why you'd gone north up the A38 instead of south, surely down to Bedford would be easier going south on the A38, then M6 and the choice between the A14 or the M1 at the end of the M6 On the whole another great Awakenings and I am very lucky to have this on my doorstep

Looking at the photos I really should have taken the VCS3 to balance things out better

Really enjoyed Phil & Xan's set. You can almost see Phil's confidence increasing gig by gig and it was good to hear him do some soloing. It was also interesting to see Xan with a different set of kit as that definitely made his sound different to what we've heard from him either solo or with TOS. Norman & Jez were excellent although I'll admit that I didn't care for the film. Norman told me afterwards that it wasn't the film that he'd intended to use but a technical problem with the disk the film was burnt to prevented him from using the correct one which is a shame. I really enjoyed the sounds that Norman was getting from his kit, especially when he opened up the sequencer. As much as it hurts me to say it, Airsculpture appear to have lost 'it'. Aside from the ambient opening it was a similar performance to the aural assault they gave us back at the NSC a few years back with full on sequencing and no subtlety. I'm going to listen to Quark Soup and Fjord Transit this week to remind myself of what they've given us in the past. Martyn may have a point about the music being ok for driving at speed down the motorway but I can't see the VT being listened too very much. Had a great trip back and was home for 12:20. No Roadworks or diversions to worry about

With Generations out of the way, I've had a chance to have a long think about where we go from here and basically decided that we need to change a few things.
First off, I want to get the new Ion album(s) out. They're long overdue and dumping stuff into music libraries is no substitute for releasing a proper CD.
However, I also want to do something new mainly because I don't think I can stand playing "The Infection of Time" one more time, ever again. It's time to do something a little more challenging.
I've messaged Jez and told him that we're no longer happy playing as Ion. Jules has also announced that she wants some time off away from Ion anyway.
This leaves us with a bit of a problem later in the year. One possible compromise is that I perform a solo set, possibly under the name "Io".
I quite like this idea. It would give me a chance to do something a bit more off the wall, a bit more experimental. That said, I don't think it's fair to play the top spot at this event, especially with Nattefrost coming all the way from Norway.
Just musing out loud.

On Saturday night at the gig there was a Brendan Pollard cd for sale. It was in a white sleeve and I think it said something like ''Jam 09'' in the title. Does anyone know which one it is?
