It was indeed a great end to this year's concerts. The visuals from both Phobos and, as usual, Ion were really good. It's a shame that Glenn left his in his coat (in the airport car park n Oslo), as they are also excellent, but the stand in images worked very well, and gave me a different set of photos from the Circus too. Three very nice sets, and I particularly enoyed the Phobos set, a good mix of sounds and images. Looking forward to next years concerts already.

Well, i thought we'd really fu.cked it up last night but the response from the audience was largely 'What problem? We didn't notice anything...'
Phobos were interesting and there's clearly some common ground with the darker ambient stuff we've been doing in recent months. I loved Glenn's set. A refreshing change with loads of tunes and plenty of structure.
Our set started well but then something went wrong with the mix and we lost one side. I couldn't hear a thing in my monitor but Jules' was working perfectly.
The applause at the end was nice and we did not expect to do an encore, hence the delay in agreeing on a suitable track.
I came away a bit disappointed - technical problems seem to follow us around - but the friends we spoke to afterwards didn't even realise there'd been a problem. Yes, the mix had gone off but we recovered okay. Clearly, this is me with my rose-tinted ear buds on again.
Special thanks to Martyn for the bass geetar. I couldn't hear much of what he was doing so the VT will be interesting.
Thanks to Jez for organising and hosting Awakenings this year and previous years. Events like this need the support of the community or they will die, something to remember whilst you're sitting at home watching the X Factor with the missus and a bad case of CBA on a Saturday night.

Thanks for posting the photos Xan, very nice shots. Thanks everyone for the comments on here and last night about the set and visuals, glad you enjoyed them. I really enjoyed playing last night, even though I was a little nervous, but strangely at ease also, if that makes sense, and I would like to thank Jez for allowing me to play. I liked Glenns set immensely, great foot tapping and headshaking stuff. It was also great chatting with him during set up and listening to him going through many different styles, blues, rock, jazz, you name it he played it. A very talented guy and a really nice bloke as well. Hope we will see him at Awakenings again. Technical issues aside I liked what Ion played last night, nice contrasting sounds and some powerful lead lines. All in all a great night from a performer and an audience members point of view. looking forward to next years. I would also like to thank the people who bought CDs last night, that means a lot to me and it is very much appreciated, so thank you again.

Maureen and I would like to thank everybody for a great night and for making us welcome. Firstly thanks to Dave Thompson for a very spacey, cosmic set and superb graphics. To Glenn for even getting to Awakenings flying in from Norway and treating us to a very upbeat and powerhouse set. To Dave Hughes and Jules for a great and varied set despite a technical glitch which we all know can happen to anyone. A real joy to be at the gig. To Mr Bassman Martyn for some neat work. Thankyou to Mr Awakenings himself Jez for organising things and Dave Buxton. To Phil Booth for the dvd and finally to Xan and his dad John for giving us a lift back to the hotel and chatting in the hotel bar 'til 1.30. It was good to put faces to names and we hope to meet up again in the future. Thankyou all once again. Paul and Maureen.

It was another great night for Awakenings & a nice end to this years gigs. I enjoyed all three sets with some great ambient sounds & excellent visuals from Phobos. This was then followed by the uptempo Jarre sounds from Glenn & was great to see/hear the laser harp in action & also jews harp on one track. Ion's set was also excellent with some nice sounding music from the new album highlighting a change in direction in their music.
I just want to thank Jez once again for putting on all the concerts this year, consisting of very contrasting music. It keeps it interesting. I've been to every one this year & enjoyed them all. I know Jez puts in a hell of a lot of personal time to organise all these gigs. Not an easy task to have 3 acts on with some travelling from other countries. He deserves a medal! Its great that 2012 will see another set of gigs at Burton. I'm looking forward to seeing who will be on.
