Wandrin' Tsar presents... Forest Creature Hailing from Sheffield and currently riding a wave a great press surrounding their new album, 'Frustrated Analogue' (Blackest Rainbow records), are Ben Moon and Richard Sides, collective heads behind Forest Creature. Usually seen hunched behind a massive strobing lightbox they construct a sound that flows and jabs in perfect harmony with its flickering neon pulses. Theirs is an amalgam of thumping technoid beats, raging psychedelic synth, broken glitches and clicks all seeped in a warm feeling of purply fug. Recent reference points would have to be the focus on relationship between texture and rhythm found in later period Black Dice, Growing and Astral Social Club. "..constantly squirming and unravelling soundscapes that skitter from almost kraut-like mesmer, to nineties style IDM, to looped woozy minimal synth wave, to gorgeous haunting murky heroin house, but no matter what the sound, or where the songs seem to be headed, Forest Creature mould all those elements into something truly original.” - record of the week, Aquarius Records "..violent and intense without being aggressively confrontational - a euphoria of industrial simplicity refracted through an adolescence of Peak District raves and grimy skylines.” - The Wire www.myspace.com/forestcreaturesofdoomwww.blackest-rainbow.moonfruit.com/Modelfighter Ominous, spine tingling electronica (releases on Chemikal Underground and Airvent Media). Compositions built from fragments of keyboard, drum machine, guitar, tape loops, accordian, harmonica and myriad other sources. Dan tells me he prepares for each live outing by purging his equipment of raw material and preset sequences, as a creative strategy to avoid falling too squarely into formula and routine. As such I have only a small idea of what he has in store for us, but from what I've previously heard (An impressively unsettling confection of atmospherics which saw loops of piercing Psycho-stlye stabs rip through a foundation of low end hum, wandering guitar and chimes) we should be in for a right treat. www.myspace.com/modelfighterwww.chemikal.co.uk/fukd-id.htm Modulator ESP Dark ambient synth improvisations from the project of Jez Creek. Distinct outer/inner space evocations populated by vaporous emissions and glacial waves of a markedly Sci-fi bent. Expect sweeping vistas of tone and a widescreen beauty in the vein of klaus Schulze, Tangerine dream et al that seems born to soundtrack that cinematic first encounter amongst the stars. www.myspace.com/modulatorespWednesday November 18 £4 hope to see you there Dan Wandrin' Tsar x www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=197912083237
