Rather late to the party but ho hum.
Excellent evening of music. Very varied.
Tang were a big surprise, real grower. Blue Lily pretty much as expected, ie very good. Smokers, well could have been a car crash with 6 musicians going different directions, but again was spot on. Respect.

I must admit, I seem to be moving away from EM music recently, but I still enjoy attending Awakenings, and I must admit it is/will be a great line up all year. A nice mix of new and old.
I love Peter Challoners music, so I am extremely biased, but thought it was probably one of his best sets ever that I have seen. Very well thought out and well done. Loved it.
Magnetron as far as I am concerned really took their best and multiplied it. Great sequences. great sounds, nothing out of place. Again, very impressed, and again loved it.
Andy Pickford is really not my cup of tea, though not sure why, (sorry Andy), but I did really enjoy his set and he justified his reputation. Perhaps it will grow on me more after the VT.
All in all a great night, enjoyed with a great bunch of people, in a well run event.
C U next time.

I was looking forward to last night and it didnt dissappoint, Paul Harriman did a great job with his Eigenharp and EWI and it was fascinating to watch and hear the sounds that those two instruments created, nice to meet him at last and chat after his performance. It was also great to see everyone again, nice chatting to David T, Brendan, Deryn and Paul Darlow, he's a very knowledgable guy, also nice to see Neil Fellows there. Peter played a more live feel set than he has in the past choosing to not have so much embelishment behind his playing offering a few nice bits throughout the set. Headshock were brilliant, both film and music working together in perfect harmony, at times it sounded like there was a CD playing such was the slickness of these two guys, even when the feel dropped to almost nothing, there was still loads going on, lots of talent and very clever what they did, I did however, travel home feeling quite sad at the possiblity that this may end after the alldayer. The above sums my thoughts up. Paul H was very good, a bit different, but I did like it. Peter was awesome. Loved it. Would have turned up just for that. Headshock, well Paul said it was improv, but difficult to believe. They played so together. Very clever sounds and rythms. Again, very unique sound. Very impressed with it. I think all 3 sets will be growers.. This is why I turn up in person. It takes me 4 hours to get there and back, 210 miles total, and I have been to every Awakenings at Burton. Why, for nights like this. It will be a great shame if it folds, but unfortunately everything has its shelf life....

It was an excellent day out.
Great music, great people, great food, loads of music to buy. You definitely have to do that again. I really hope this drags more people to the concerts next year.
Well done to Jez and all concerned.

Another great evening.
Xan and Steve were excellent. Very measured, well thoughout sounds and build of sequences. Enjoyed it greatly. Nice to see Steve play after such a long time. Their CD is definite worth the cash imo.
Nattefrost was definately very high tempo. I enjoyed it, but must admit at times it was too full on. The sounds were excellent though, so look forward to the VT. I took a punt on some of his CDs and found similar music, but less frenetic, so am becoming very impressed by his work with each listening.
I do like ION, but we have seen them quite a bit, so I was impressed that they managed to do similar but different, if you know what I mean. Really enjoyed it, and the VT will get well played.
As usual visuals were all stunning.
Very good evening, though I am struggling with driving at the momemt, so was less than impressed to find part of the M42 closed.... why me. Ah well, got home in one piece so all's well.
Thanks again to everyone for a great evening of music

It took me 3 hours to dl, in which Time I went for a haircut It was worth the wait. First impression of LAMP was it sounds even better second time around. Same with Ideation. Other two sets in progress. Already dead impressed by Dan Dare CD. Xan's CD is very impressive as well. Very different, but very well done.

It has been fascinating reading the comments about Airsculpture here, and comparing them to those comments from last time.
I suspected that the last concert was not going to go down well with some people almost before the last note was finished.
I think your opinion on the concert probably depends on your “EM preferences”. I suspect that those EM followers who also like more dance orientated music might enjoy the Airsculpture set more than others.
I personally prefer uptemp, varied stuff, so actually enjoyed it.
I actually found the VT more enjoyable than the concert, as live it was way too loud and you lost the quiet parts at bit. I can hear the mistakes and issues with it but have played it a number of times and am still enjoying it. Whilst flawed perhaps, it certainly was not awful. But there again, if you improvise live, it is not gonna be perfect is it.
Saying that, Jez & Norman’s set was my favourite.

I think it took 3 hours to DL, so just left it in background.
36 mins into Airsculpture, definitely sounds better quieter, (I really must be getting old to actually say that......)
