In Jan 2007 I got a midisport 2x2 PC interface off a seller called Rogue-elements and during the deal I noticed it had been photographed on a mellotron and mentioned this to this seller, after a number of email exchanges and views of this sellers website he advised me to join this forum which is what I did. That's very similar to how I met Brendan ;D

Just been looking through my ebay history, I have brought and sold over 250 items over the time I have been a member, some great stuff and some crap. Little did I know then, that the seller was Brendan and from this chance deal has lead me to this point in my musical journey. Prior to this i'd fell off the earth where EM music was concerned, I didnt even know that it still had a following as such or you guys "my friends" on here. As you know I have played a few times with David Hughes and Jez, but I would never had have thought that I would be doing a gig of my own within this musical genre 5 and half years ago. To say I am very very excited about this prospect is an understatement and it cant come quick enough for me or Dave for that matter, we have booked the rehearsal studio for Thursday/Friday of next week to sort out our mixing requirements and some of the stuff we intend to do with regard to a general plan of arrangement and gear that we will use ( I am still looking on ebay for a replacement PSS780 for the MarTaurus pedals). Then when I come back off hols in a fortnight we will have about 3 weeks to wait. Anyway I would just like to say a big thank you to Brendan for re-introducing me to this, Jez for the opportunity to play at Awakenings and all you guys on here for your continued encouragement of my music throughout, top blokes the lot of ya! Back in the early/mid 70's I used to write to loads of independant sellers that advertised in record mags. I dealt with quite a few but I kept receiving lists from one seller I new I hadn't written to. The lists kept coming so I started buying off him. Some time later he explained what happened. He worked for a guy that did mailorder and didn't think the guy was doing it very well. He copied the customer list and did his own mailorder. He opened a 2 thriving independant shops and was in business for 30 years until the supermarkets and rent hikes put him out of the game for good. It was a long friendship and all from a catalogue I never asked for, good days.

He gave him a job and stayed for the duration. Those were the days of being taken at face value and trust.

Dave and I had our first proper rehearsal at Neon Sounds tonight and what we were doing sounded pleasing, although I was a little dissappointed in the synths sounds i'd got planned to use especially the R3 sounds although all the instruments sounded very boomy and strange. When playing them through the headphones you get all the nice sonic characteristics bouncing away in your head, but through that PA tonight there was just too much bottom end that was killing all the overtones etc. Not sure if its the studio sonics, the PA, my mixer or the actual R3 sounds but if I loose all that nicety in Burton it'll sound fookin shyte. I am hoping it was the studio or PA. I had the headphones on during parts of tonight and was getting a pretty good sound through those but hearing it in the air I was not pleased. Nothing was too loud or distorted just an over powering bottom end and I dont know what to do, if I change the sounds to try and reduce the boomyness will they be too toppy at Burton and send everyone into fits of excruciating pain Has anyone had this happen before, I know you sometimes struggle to hear stuff through the foldback monitors but it generally sounds pretty good out front.

Update: I have just been watching some clips of our video backdrop sent to me by David Hughes. My desire to have a backdrop using somekind of virtual tour is becoming a reality. He has painstakingly captured about 50 mins worth of coverage from an online sim game, a virtual tour around a deserted spaceship with some very interesting images and areas of the ship to explore. He is editing it together flawlessly and a great job he is doing of it too . The footage I have seen will be perfect for what Dave and I want to project, a surreal world and a marrying of rock, EM and sounds. David will retain most of the rights to this video as he is doing it FOC, so in theory I will just be borrowing it for our gig. If you are going on the 14th and like the visuals and would like an unsoudtracked copy you will need to get in touch with David where i'm sure he will accomodate you, there will hopefully be some clips posted up on Phils You Tube as with all Awakenings concerts. So just over a month away and everything is falling into place, just hope that we dont dissappoint on the night, but as I have said before, there are two very good and respected acts following us which i'm sure will give great value for money even if we dont
