Great night of music, particularly enjoyed Remy's set. More feckin' closed roads and detours on the way back tho.

Yes, another great night . Good to catch up with everyone again, although I didnt seem to have the time to chat as much this time. 3 very good sets to listen to with Peter Challoner doing something very different to what I have heard from him before, very pleasant ambient waves and a good start to the evening. Steve Dinsdale came up next with a mix of drumming along to new and old music, although I must confess it was all new music to me, and on a single synth he was playing various parts over the top of some recorded stuff. Very interesting to watch loved the last track, lots of good snare rudiments being delivered and must be quite difficult to play along like that. One thing I noticed was that his synth was quite low volume and he played what would have been a blinding solo, but it was only just high enough to hear it, but when he was playing safe FX etc. it was high, I said in the break it was probably a confidence thing, being it was his first solo performance. Maybe next time he does it he will whack the vol up a bit when doing some of the nicer stuff on the synth. Remy Stroomer played a very nice set indeed, lots of interaction with his synths and some great tracks all delivered very slick and well rehearsed. For me his encore was the biz, full "on the spot" improv just playing and tweaking the synths as he went along and he got a good groove going, top stuff. And I think we have found someone that plays LOUDER than Jez ;D I have to say the visuals of all three were particularly good this time and I loved Remy's animation. The next time I am there it will be me stepping up to the mark and i'm very glad that it'll be a full on summer night as it was very very cold in there last night and I dont think I could do it in that kind of cold, must be quite hard to concentrate and get the fingers moving. Bring on July 14th

It was a great and varied night of music which for me was musically up there with the best there has been of Awakenings. I was so cold that it spoilt the latter part of Remy's set. I've been warmer on the bankside with frost on the ground and ice on the water than I was in that hall last night. Roll on a warm summer evening in July.

Will it be possible to raise the level of the keyboard for the mix of the VT, cue Mr Creek. no, I'm afraid I only record a stereo mix, so you get exactly what happens on the night

Great evening all round, despite being bloody cold. Thanks to Phil for taking me. Enjoyed Pete's set, likes the ambient mixed in with the natural sounds. Find his stuff very relaxing to listen to. Nice to see Steve Dinsdale and his new lady Kathy, who me and Phil had a good chat with. Really enjoyed his performance, a bit different, you don't see many drum kits at Awakenings. He certainly has his own unique style away from his work with rmi. The hi-light of the evening was Remy. Some of the best visuals and music ever heard and seen at Awakenings. The animation was fascinating and the music was very professionally presented. Looking forward to hearing the VT of that. So, a great mix of different styles and as always good to meet up with friends. Why do they always shut the roads on a Sunday morning.

Really enjoyed the evening, 3 great sets, Steve Dinsdale reminded me a little of Harald Grosskopf, maybe because he was playing drums as well. Remy was very good, good sounds going on, but for me as Martyn mentioned earlier the encore really stood out, wish that could have gone on for longer. Pete Challoner an excellent fusion of "environmental" sounds and ambient, So Awakening does it again, as it has so many times before, 3 acts of differing styles combine to make on hell of an evenings entertainment. Well done everyone.

it has just taken 20 minutes to save the final edit of remy's set, after taking another 10 minutes to normalise
that's the trouble with 90 minute sets
looks like VTs won't be up 'til tomorrow now as I'm off to bed!

Back home again! I've had a excellent time at last weekend's Awakenings. Thumbs up to Jez + crew and all of you who supported this evening by your prescence, buying VT's and my music! Above any expectations! For those who are interested: I wrote a short review about Awakenings and our stay in the U.K. on my blog: exhibitionofdreams.blogspot.com/2012/04/awakenings.html
